Haunted Paws now has a demo on Steam, the spooky co-op where you are a puppy
If you are after a horror plan to play with someone else and without actually having a bad time, write this one down. Haunted Paws now has a free demo on Steam. It is a co-op adventure where two puppies head into a haunted mansion to rescue their owner.
The demo landed on 8 October, timed with The Triple-i Initiative. It comes from LazyFlock, a studio that develops and publishes the game on its own.

Two puppies and a haunted mansion
Some creatures have taken the dogs’ owner and locked her up in a mansion. From there you explore, solve puzzles between the two of you and face whatever turns up. The mix of sweet and sinister is the whole point of the game, because every creature hides a dark past. Beating one does not just get it out of your way, it also sets it free.

You play as a puppy with everything that involves, so you can dig, sniff and bark. Before you start you put your dog together by choosing breed, coat colour and accessories. The studio’s idea is that you make one that looks like your real dog.
You can also play as a kitten dressed up as a dog
This is my favourite detail of the whole thing. In last year’s closed playtest a lot of people asked to play as a cat. The studio has solved it in the silliest and funniest way possible, because there is a kitten, but she comes tucked inside a dog costume. You can even swap her bark for a meow. That way nobody in the game suspects a thing.

Differences between the Haunted Paws demo and the playtest
If you played that test back in October last year, this is not the same thing you had. According to the studio they have redone the graphics, the audio and the music, as well as polishing the movement and the camera. There is new content too, plus a solid round of fixes.

How to play it and with whom
The Haunted Paws demo also takes two of you and there are several ways to sort that out, in split screen on the same sofa, in online co-op or through Remote Play Together. The full game will also include a Friend Pass, which lets you invite someone who does not own it to play for free.
It is translated into Spanish, it has full controller support and it comes with Steam achievements. For now the demo is Windows only. The full game still has no date, so the demo is the only way to get a taste of it.
